SIA Security Refresher Course

This SIA Security Refresher (Top-Up) course is designed for existing Door Supervisors who need to renew their licence and meet the latest industry standards.

The SIA now requires all Door Supervisor licence holders to complete this mandatory refresher training before renewing their badge.

During this 2-day course, you’ll review key updates in legislation, best practices in physical intervention, and your responsibilities as a frontline security operative. The course also includes essential counter-terrorism awareness, and scenario-based training.

Requirements

  • You must already hold an SIA Door Supervisor Licence
  • Licence must be due for renewal or expired within the allowed renewal period
  • You must have completed Emergency First Aid at Work within the last 12 months
  • Bring valid photo ID (passport or driving licence)
  • Must be physically able to demonstrate basic intervention techniques
  • Arrive on time and complete the full day to qualify for certification

Assessment Results & Resit Policy

  • 99% of results will be received on the same day as your assessment.
  • Two free resits are available per unit if needed.
  • Same-day resits are available at an additional charge of £20 per unit.

Ashley brings over a decade of experience in the security industry, spanning frontline service, management, and training. With a practical, no-nonsense approach to SIA instruction, Ashley draws on a rich background that includes military service with the British Army’s Coldstream Guards and a deployment to Afghanistan. After transitioning into civilian security, Ashley co-founded MainDoor Security and has since worked across a wide range of environments—from high-profile venues to round-the-clock site protection. Now an SIA-approved trainer, Ashley is committed to equipping learners with the real-world skills, confidence, and professionalism needed to thrive in today’s security industry.

Kieran

Kieran first began working in the security industry before the introduction of the SIA licensing system, giving him a strong foundation and long-term understanding of how the sector has evolved. After some time away, he rediscovered his passion for the industry in 2021 following the COVID pandemic and returned with renewed focus and commitment. He brings a wide range of experience across the security sector and currently works at a busy venue in Hertford. Alongside his operational duties, Kieran is also involved in SIA training and development, supporting high standards within the industry. Outside of work, he has a strong interest in strongman events, reflecting his discipline, resilience, and dedication to continual self-improvement.
