Our Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is a comprehensive, practical programme designed for anyone looking to gain a recognised first aid qualification. The course consists of 3 hours of face-to-face classroom training, with the remaining guided learning completed through e-learning.

Throughout the course, participants will develop the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently recognise, assess and respond to a range of real-life medical emergencies. The programme combines interactive learning with hands-on practical exercises, helping delegates build the confidence to act quickly and effectively in an emergency.

Led by certified instructors with frontline experience, the training uses realistic scenarios and practical demonstrations to ensure every delegate is fully engaged and prepared. By the end of the course, participants will have the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to provide emergency first aid safely and effectively until further medical assistance arrives.

What you'll learn

How to respond to adult medical emergencies with confidence
How to perform effective CPR and use a defibrillator (AED)
How to manage choking, burns, bleeding, and shock
How to place a casualty in the recovery position
How to identify signs of seizures and provide safe care

Requirements

 

  • Valid Photo ID – Passport or driving licence required for certification processing.
  • Basic English Proficiency – You must be able to understand instructions and complete written assessments in English.
  • Physically Able to Perform First Aid Tasks – You will be required to demonstrate CPR, place someone in the recovery position, and respond to practical scenarios on the floor.
  • Appropriate Clothing – Wear comfortable clothing suitable for physical activity during role play and assessments.
  • Punctuality – Attendance is required for the full course duration to be eligible for certification.
  • Pre-Booking & Payment – Spaces are limited — booking and payment must be completed before the course start date.

Ashley brings over a decade of experience in the security industry, spanning frontline service, management, and training. With a practical, no-nonsense approach to SIA instruction, Ashley draws on a rich background that includes military service with the British Army’s Coldstream Guards and a deployment to Afghanistan. After transitioning into civilian security, Ashley co-founded MainDoor Security and has since worked across a wide range of environments—from high-profile venues to round-the-clock site protection. Now an SIA-approved trainer, Ashley is committed to equipping learners with the real-world skills, confidence, and professionalism needed to thrive in today’s security industry.

Kieran

Kieran first began working in the security industry before the introduction of the SIA licensing system, giving him a strong foundation and long-term understanding of how the sector has evolved. After some time away, he rediscovered his passion for the industry in 2021 following the COVID pandemic and returned with renewed focus and commitment. He brings a wide range of experience across the security sector and currently works at a busy venue in Hertford. Alongside his operational duties, Kieran is also involved in SIA training and development, supporting high standards within the industry. Outside of work, he has a strong interest in strongman events, reflecting his discipline, resilience, and dedication to continual self-improvement.
